Waverley Borough Council Suspends Parking Enforcement

in a bid to support key workers and volunteers for their effort to help the community during the Covid-19 crisis, Waverley Borough Council is temporarily suspending parking enforcement in all of its car parks.

The move, which will come into force at midnight tonight, means that key workers in shops, NHS, health care or other important roles and volunteers supporting those who need help, need not worry about paying for a parking ticket while carrying out their duties. Other residents in the borough will also benefit from the enforcement suspension and will not need to buy a ticket while the temporary measures are in place.

Councillor Nick Palmer, Portfolio Holder for Operational and Enforcement Services at Waverley Borough Council, said: “We really want to do our bit to support those who are helping our community. We hope this gesture will give people one less thing to worry about during this challenging time.

“However, I’d like to remind people that they should only be going out if it is absolutely necessary. We should be following Government guidelines and staying at home to protect the NHS and to help save lives.”
