Don't Throw Your Vote Away

Waverley Borough Council is urging residents to make sure they are properly registered to vote in the forthcoming local elections, which take place on Thursday 2 May 2019.

Borough and parish council elections select councillors, who make decisions on running important services in your local area. These include housing, planning, community events, play areas, leisure facilities, environmental health and waste management.

In order to vote, residents must be on the electoral register. If you are not already registered, you must do so by midnight on Friday 12 April to be able to vote on 2 May. Anyone can apply online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. It takes just five minutes.

Tom Horwood, Returning Officer for Waverley Borough Council said:

Time is running out to make sure you can take part in the local elections. They are an opportunity to make your voice heard and have a say on who represents you on issues that directly affect day-to-day life in your neighbourhood. If you’re not registered by 12 April, you won’t be able to vote.

“If you have recently turned 18 or moved home, it is particularly important that you act to ensure that you are registered to vote. It takes just five minutes online and means that you can take part in this important election.”

If you are not sure whether you are registered please check your details by giving Electoral Services a call on 01483 523116 or emailing:  electoral.services@waverley.gov.uk
