I am writing as Chair of the management committee of Churt Village Hall.
Pre-COVID, the then Village Hall committee set up a lottery to raise funds to contribute to the upkeep and development of the Village Hall. It is/was called the ’90 Club’. Ever since I joined the committee last year we have been in discussions about re-branding and expanding the lottery and I have finally got around to doing something about it. The ‘Hall for All’ lottery is now seeking new participants to join the monthly draw. Membership is just £5 per month. Each month membership numbers are drawn randomly and a little under half the income of the lottery is distributed to the winners. Further, with the re-brand, we are looking to hold ad hoc draws at Village Hall events and on special occasions with additional cash prizes. The intention is to use ~ half the proceeds for prizes and the remainder is put towards the Village Hall upkeep and development.
We have significant plans to continue to upgrade the facilities at the Village Hall including refurbishment of the toilet facilities, purchase of a new storage shed for users of the Hall, installation of a new audio-visual system and cabling for use by users of the hall for presentations, concerts, and even possible future film evenings and/or showing of major sporting/national events etc. And we have just begun discussions about possibly installing a renewable energy system to replace the old conventional system through air source heat, solar panels and batteries to ensure the future sustainability of the Hall. I do hope you can help by supporting the ‘Hall for All’ lottery. The attached poster provides information on what to do to join. We are looking to increase membership to 100 participants by Christmas; a tall order but with your help ‘we can do it’!
Thank you on behalf of the Village Hall management committee and trustees – all volunteers. The Village Hall is run as a charitable organisation, and all surplus income goes towards maintaining and developing the Hall.
