Churt Parish Council

There is a warmth and enthusiasm for life in our village and a strong consensus on the aspects where there is room for improvement through community initiatives and close collaboration with the numerous third party organisations which impact on Churt.

   

Our vision for Churt 2035 will build on the current strengths of our community: “Churt will retain its character as a quiet but vibrant village with a strong community spirit that provides the facilities and homes for thriving and sustainable living.”

  

To achieve our vision we have set up five Focus Areas.  Each will be led by a group of interested Churt Residents supported where appropriate by the CPC and other groups/societies as appropriate:

  

• Securing our Infrastructure

  • Utilities, broadand, telecoms, EV charging, Roads, pavements, footpaths, housing

  • CPC member responsible: Lisa Martin

   

• Modernising our entertainment and recreation facilities

  • Pavilion, café, green areas etc.

  • CPC members responsible: Dawn Barrow, Pippa Harrison

  

• Maintaining and building on our current community

  • One village, one community

  • CPC members responsible: Sally Shorthose (overall, communication), Julian Spence (local government re-organisation), Pippa Harrison (community projects)

   

• Driving environmental resilience in Churt

  • Managing our impact on the environment

  • CPC members responsible: Julian Spence, Myra Johnson

   

• Making it happen

  • Monitoring progress, coordination with other stakeholders, Raising finance

  • CPC member responsible: Mike Shorthose (overall), Dawn Barrow (grant applications), Julian Spence (local government re-organisation)

  

We will monitor progress of our vision on a semi-annual basis and report progress to the Village at the Annual Assembly in March each year. To find out more, you can download the Churt 2035 document.
